The Heard Museum sets the stage for American Indian stories to be told. Stories that go beyond the objects and the glass cases found in our galleries. Stories that will create a lasting impression when you visit. We hold dynamic festivals throughout the year that nurture talent and new ways of experiencing American Indian art. Established in 1929, the Heard Museum continues to present interpretations of the past while ensuring that new stories and voices "get heard."

That is SO cool!! The flow and ease with which he does it!! You can tell he's worked hard on his craft and he truly feels it. Love, love, love it! Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you for keeping the tradition going.
Impressive
He is a family relative. I want to see his art.
🙏🏽 please remember Wampum was made from shells, The Indian Money. But this money was unhoardable, The Money Shaman had a special ceremony to make sure that the money (wampum) always circulated and was never hoarded. Because of THIS very sacred money (wampum) The Tohono O’odham lived and prospered, and once the bodily needs were met, Spiritual Life became the focus. The Spanish used HOARDABLE money, gold and silver, which could be hoarded for long calculated periods of time in order for a small group of people or entities to manipulate market conditions and EVERYTHING else. The Tohono O’odham had used unhoardable money for so long, they let the SACRED knowledge slip away, and they thought that the Spanish money functioned like their own Wampum (UNHOARDABLE money) and this led to the 1000 year period of darkness. Please 🙏🏽 bring back the Story of Wampum in your Language Revival so that this unfortunate mistake is corrected and NEVER happens again. Verlon Jose knows this. And so does Friar Ponchie. Ask them. I am at your service, 💜 Angel NicGillicuddy
I absolutely love this dance. 😊
🌊 🐬 ☀️
When firing the pots you're suppose to dance and sing around the fire and cry out,,,,,,,,,,, hot-a-pot-a, a--hot-a-pot-a, a-hot-a-pot-a. Loved your documentary.
What ocean did they go to? How long was the journey?
There is beauty in nature :)
So amazing and inspiring ❤
Rest well , you're words and image are what is the core of our historical memory , and this allows us to observe and visit for many generations to come
Thank you.
This is so amazing.. What abilities... wow!!!
I in pray that each n of you at this event has an item you make in a museum or better yet passes this knowledge to one of your family members who takes interest in basket weaving. God bless you. I hold Chickasaw ancestry and enjoyed this video.
Thank the gods you were able to preserve it - beautiful 😍
I love love love Radmilla Cody . She has ALWAYS held her pride love and respect for her people The Navajo , and African. For that I am forever grateful! Her example has made me proud of who I am as a Mississippi Choctaw and African man Chi yakokli ! 🙏🏾💕
Always loved the hoop dance
Awesome 🎉🎉🎉
He's putting on a show! Amazing
I love being Diné Ahéhee ❤️
Nice vid! And make no mistake; I'm no trying to sound critical but I've made these and never seen anyone beat the leaves with a rock! That will destroy too many fibers. I guess it's just geography and how you're taught but 8 use a wrist sized wooden stick and very stiff brushes to remove the meat and skin from the fiber. Or scrape them on a log or beam with the same stick the same as when I collect maguey fiber. I'll also put the half finished fiber bundles in a 5 gal. Bucket for a couple of weeks to help with separation which would have been done in a stream and would have been harder to do as well in an arid environment. The rock thing really freaked me out! Lol
Good job sir . By the way I'm Manny Carbajosa Garpen Native Born in San Carlos City it my Mother Land now I'm looking to talk to you personally I hope.
I know exactly what you’re talking about. I top pottery for 25 years during that time of teaching it I only had two students that went onto to become potters out of the hundreds that I taught it’s a dying art but it’s a very wonderful one.
Put some Slip Knot music to this!
I walk the Quechan park at the river & also the two Wetland parks on the AZ side. Wonderful parks for hiking or walking.
Tony Duncan, this is why You are Champion! You are Articulate, & Graceful. The Great Spirit moves thru You. ❣️ Many Blessings to You ,& Yours. 🪶🪶🪶🪶 🤠😁
I really enjoy the dances, especially the hoop dancing. Thank You for sharing this with us. Beautiful! I find it very moving.
Love your work..Well done

This is amazing thank you for sharing ❤
INCREDIBLE ❤
This was my 7th grade math teacher, brought the hoops to class one day and taught us a few things! So happy to see he’s still dancing, if you see this Mr. Goedel, much love from your Vineyard math class of 2014-2015!
I was just talking about you tonight my friend. I miss you. Happy new year up to you in heaven. Miss you
Just learning about your culture and I did not know you had such a tie to the ocean! The desert and the ocean are my two favorite places to be on this beautiful blue ball we call home. Thank you for posting this!
My husband was a hoop dancer … this brings some memories … beautiful and amazing talent
This is beautiful. Thanks for sharing
Very interesting and enjoyable. Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful amazing dance.. ❤❤❤
Many thanks for managing and developing the Kachina dolls of the Hopi culture. Hopi Kachina dolls and Navajo sand paintings are some of the deepest and most rewarding spiritual expressions in our world.
Mesmerizing!,,
Watching hoop dance from Cameroon! Just amazing. 👏👏👏👏❤️❤️
I'll keep doing it cousin
Maybe one day it will get out of the museum and back onto the people, where it belongs.
Truly amazing!
Tony, his beautiful wife Violet and talented brother Kevin came to my city some years back and performed. Their grace and talent made quite the impression upon me and my daughters. If you haven't heard Tony's music from Estun-bah , do yourself a favor and have a listen. The songs written for Violet are mesmerizing. I was lucky enough to be able to purchase two cd's from Tony. Such a lovely family. Glad to see he's still active in dance. I wish them nothing but happiness.
The Heartbeat Of Mother Earth is a fantastic album. It features Ken Duncan, David Brush, and James Peshlakai. Great stuff. And apparently Ken and David are both a part of the Yellowbird Indian Dancers. I've been trying to find more of David's music, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Shame.
Put a tear in my eyes. So gently spoken.
Beautiful. I sub to PatrickisaNavajo. thinking that's why this was suggested.
Make us proud
